Central Park Station

Central Park is the green “ lung” of Kaohsiung. It links Jhongshan 1st Rd., Wufu 3rd Rd., Jhonghua 3rd Rd. and Minsheng 2nd Rd. Urban Spotlight is its next door neighbor. It’s a good place for urban relaxation.

Cihou Lighthouse

This lighthouse was built in 1883, Emperor Guangsyu’s 9th year. During the daytime, you can look out over the sea, ships moving in and out, and the harbor sights. In the evening it is closed, but you can view the moonlight from the entrance stairs.

Cihou Fort

In Emperor Tongjhih’s 13th year, the Cing Dynasty sent Shen Baojhen to Taiwan to resist the Japanese army and to build forts at Cihou and Syongjhen North Gate. They are Chinese style constructions. The word “si” is set into the entrance brickwork, and the forts are inscribed “Shaking Heaven’s south” and “Guarding the north gate.” The top of the fort is open, so there is an excellent view. It’s the best place to view the scenery of the bay.

Cijin Tunnel of Stars

This tunnel is located below Cihoushan, a famous scenic spot on the route of the Cijin Oceanview Bike Path. There is installation art made of driftwood in the tunnel, to go along with colored sketches of the 12 star signs. It’s very romantic and fascinating.

Cijin Seaside Park

Cijin Seaside Park occupies 45 hectares of land. There are a bathing beach, a seascape viewing path, a cross-country area and a natural ecology area. The sea-viewing platform outside the plaza extends from the coast to the sea. Visitors can experience the power of the tide here. The Seaside Park has a Shell Exhibition Hall. There are more than 2000 kinds of shell on view, making it well worth a visit.

Tianhou Temple at Cihou

This temple was built in Emperor Kangsi’s 12th year, Cing Dynasty (1673 AD). It was the first Mazu Temple in Kaohsiung City. Now it’s a Class Three ancient monument. The walls on both sides are covered with stone carving, exquisite work that has a primitive grace. It’s the religious center of Cijing District and is very prosperous.
